Taking the controls in the A Room is veteran engineer/producer Kris Anderson, a Chicago native. Kris joined the Studio 11 team in September of 2013 after working 6 years with Chicago Producer Vince Lawrence, known as the creator of House Music. With 15 years of experience in the Chicago Music Scene at some of the most famous studios in town, Kris is all too familiar with the sound of Chicago, working on projects for R Kelly, Crucial Conflict, Boo & Gotti, Lil Reese, CeCe Penniston, industrial bands’ Ministry & Pigface, and house music legends Frankie Knuckles & Ron Carroll to name a few. He has also worked on music and remixes for Chaka Kahn, Destiny’s Child, Beyonce, Backstreet Boys, N’Sync, New Order, Britney Spears, Sisco, Rob Thomas, Kelly Price and countless other major label artists. He has employed his engineering & production skills on everything from rap to hip hop, house to EDM, rock to gospel, and even classical. No style of music is out of his engineering ability or thinking.
Kris also is no stranger to the jingle industry, working on commercials for Chevy, Honda, Miller Brewing, Budweiser, Kmart, McDonalds and more. He has also mixed the theme song & additional theme’s for the Dr. Oz television show, sound design & mix for the web series “Fuct In Space” and award winning audio book “Lost Survivor”, plus countless websites and phone apps. After becoming friends with the Studio 11 crew, Studio 11 owner Alex Gross convinced Kris to make a change and come over to the Studio 11 team where the “Hits” get made.
Kris’s engineering and production chops center around his professional and creative use and abuse of Pro Tools, which he considers “an extension of himself”. You can typically find him in the studio dialing in some kind of wizardry, whether it be complex & rythmatic editing, wild & abnormal auto tuning, to hand clappin feet stomping productions. He has also mixed and produced songs for artists using other programs such as Ableton, Digital Performer, Logic, Garage Band, and Cakewalk. He also is no stranger to the analog world, mixing on consoles by SSL, AMEK, Trident, Euphonix and Mackie.
Kris is also a talented multi-instrumentalist, electronic musician, and producer, putting out over 45 releases under the name South of Roosevelt with his partner JP. Their releases have placed number one on everthing from Traxsource to Juno Records and in the top ten on Beatport. Their biggest dance music hit, “Over Me” sold over 20,000 copies both digitally and in stores worldwide. Those who have worked with Kris believe his ability to see & hear a project from the perspective of the listener is what contributes most significantly to his engineering and production creativity. Kris’s mixes and productions highlight an element of musicality and creativity that can only come from an engineer who truly has an understanding of music, technology, and most importantly the listener.
Kris continues to love engineering & producing for clients & himself. His number one philosophy is getting projects done quickly and right the first time around. His layed back attitude keeps studio time in the A-Room friendly, inspiring, and above all productive.More about us
